Not enough details.
–What is your files naming convention? Is it PLEX compliant? See Movies Split Across Multiple Files on https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/
–Are the files MKV, MP4?
How do the troubled files vary from those that work?
Mostly I avoid this issue by using encoding software, like Freemake, (I think HandBrake can do that as well) to combine the two files into one. I dislike having multiple files for one movie. It just takes the software a little time to combine files and, after that, you are good to go and there are no further problems.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I am using the required naming convention which I have used in several other 2 part movies (which run without a problem). The only difference in the 2 files is 1 is named pt 1 and the 2nd Pt 2… Both files are in the same folder. I have tried deleting the files and remove them from plex and then re-upload and pass to plex but still have the same issue.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m more tech illiterate than savvy but I will look into your 2 apps and see if they solve my problem without significantly increasing the overall size of the file.
Don’t know if it matters but you said “Pt 1” and “Pt 2” containing a space. The support page (above) shows Pt1 and Pt2 without a space. I don’t know how picky PLEX is in this instance.
Thanks for your suggestion. I have used spaces in other movies with no problems.
Thanks for the suggestion. I combined the files using Video Connector (Mac) and uploaded the combined file to my NAS. It looks like this is a good work around. Thanks again.
I’m also seeing this issue with the new player. If you switch back to the old player the two parts play well so it seems like a technical issue with the new player.
Is there a way that the Plex team could investigate this?
My computer worked but my phone is also not working with the new player.
Can also confirm that this is happening on the latest version on the shield.
Enabling “old player” works fine. for the most part… this is glaring error, and if its existed since Streaming Brain then this is a horrid issue to still be around since then!
