I just purchased a Plex Pass for my Mom. She’s retiring her old Windows 7 WMC DVR and we’re trying to replace it with an Nvidia Shield + HDHomeRun + Plex Pass.
There’s a few things we’re missing from the setup she likes. One being that in WMC she was able to see 14 days of guide data but for some reason Plex only shows 3 days. This means if she’s going on vacation or something, she can’t schedule recordings further out than 3 days.
Second issue we’re having is that there doesn’t seem to be any way to record the currently playing show either from the program guide or the video controls. There is no record button. I have specifically enabled the “Allow partial recordings” on the DVR settings but this doesn’t help. How can she record the currently playing show?
Third issue but not really a biggie, is there any way to have the Nvidia Shield wake up from sleep to record a scheduled recording?
What version of Plex Media Server do you have installed? Are you using the Plex EPG or a third-party EPG. Is the guide limited to three days when viewed from https://app.plex.tv/desktop?
I believe the second issue is a known issue with the current Android UI.
Using the latest version of Plex Media Server. I’m not in front of the device so can’t check at the moment. Using the default Plex EPG. I’ll check tonight if the website shows more than 3 days.
As for the second issue, is this something that is being worked on and will be fixed?
The plex media server can be access from a web browser via https://app.plex.tv/desktop, log in using the Plex Pass credentials and then navigate to Settings (wrench/tool icon, upper right) and then scroll down the left navigation beneath the SERVER NAME and then click on General.
I can see more than 3 days in the web app. I think the android app is just locking up when going that far out. It seems very unpolished. I’m thinking of switching to the Windows app. Is it any better?
