Hello,
I configured my PKC on a RPI2 without direct paths (Playback mode = Addon)
I noticed when I start playing a particular movie on KODI, my RPI starts playing and server is NOT transcoding.
Playing the same move on a RPI2 with RASPLEX, server starts transcoding.
Is there a reason for this. It’s the same hardware, so I would expect the same behaviour?

Hehe, that’s because Kodi/PKC can play the file without transcoding - which is usually a very good thing . However, you would have to ask the Rasplex guys why your media is transcoding

So my question in this forum: why does RASPLEX@RPI2 needs transcoding and OPENELEC@RPI2+PKC doesn’t? Same hardware…

Kind regards,
B

I would venture a guess that either the OpenElec versions are different and/or that they are using different client profiles.

What client is RasPLEX using? What is the video format in the movie that’s transcoding?

@bart.plessers
Is this still an issue with 1.6.0?

@benjaminwolf

Running
RasPlex 1.6.0.113

I tried with a hevc file now, server is not transcodig anymore.
I suppose problem is solved…

thanx
B

There is a small bug in 1.6.0 which has been squashed in 1.6.1.
