i recently installed a new video card in my HTPC. Its Nvidia gtx950. It supports 4k resolution at 60hz refresh rate.
Previously i was using the integrated video card on my mother board at 4k 30hz resolution.
Im noticing an issue with the 60hz refresh rate. Some times openpht goes blank and i have to kill it to recover. it then doesnt want to lanuch also,keeps giving the blank black screen, not even the PLEX logo shows up when starting up.
After a few attempts it starts working but in a dar or to i get the same problem
I dont have this problem if i use 4k resolution at 30HZ.
By the way my TV supports all these display resolutions and refresh rates

tl;dr - If you get a black screen when you exit OpenPHT and can’t get anything else to launch, change your video display setting in OpenPHT from Full Screen to Full Screen Windowed.
I had a similar issue. Radeon R9 card with a 4K TV though I don’t know what my refresh rate is (not in front of the machine). My issue was that if I started any video and then tried to exit OpenPHT I would get a black screen. No using ALT-TAB or ESC to get to a task bar would work. Luckily I have a key on my keyboard mapped to launch OpenPHT. I could launch the program again and then exit out and it would drop me back to a desktop. I made sure everything was up to date including updating the Black Skin since I read that might be a problem. Nothing seemed to work until I went into the screen settings and changed it from full screen to full screen windowed mode. I thought the issue could be the Radeon drivers or hardware and OpenPHT but I can’t narrow it down further. The logs don’t show anything out of the ordinary and our cards are different. I plan on replacing the video card anyways just as an update and will be using an NVIDIA card. I don’t know if that will let me go back to the regular full screen instead of windowed, but at least I know of a workaround.

I’m so glad I saw this. I have this exact problem after just upgrading to a 4K television yesterday. Different video card as well.
