I probably suck at searching, but could not find anything about this in the forums, so sorry if this is already answered somewhere…
Are there any chance of PHT for appletv? I just can’t get comfortable with the PMP look and navigation 
even just being able to change the skin/look would help

Which AppleTV version?
AppleTV1 (the one that is actually a very light PC running i386 CPU) can run (old versions of) XBMC/Kodi when using a Broadcom Crystal HD card (running CrystalBuntu or OMSC).
The (current) problem is that Kodi stopped supporting the BCHD so OpenPHT can not use it.
Some kind of mix between OMSC (still supporting the BCHD) and OpenPHT/RasPlex would be needed to get OpenPHT running on an AppleTV1.
I’m quite sure I’m not the only one who would love that; even if a C2 is (very) cheap, buying yet another hardware because of a missing driver doesn’t sound “right”.
For the newer AppleTV, it’s quite the same: if someone (with dev capabilities) decides to port the software… Then there will be an AppleTV version.
