OpenPlex UI

Everything seems to be laid out in the wrong order. Why is Plex Icon the sixth interactive item when all preceding five items have to be completely redone after setting the Plex Icon? Why is installing Pillow the second step when the first step is setting the themes, some of which require Pillow to be installed in order to work? It’s really aggravating and illogical to use and there are no clear chronological Step By Step directions anywhere. No one wants to watch a video in lieu of an instructional manual. Might I suggest reordering the tabs in the app so that they follow from left to right the order in which they will need to be used upon set up? A written How To would also go a long way.

Because that is where the tab is located by design. You actually don’t need to reinstall the theme anymore on step 8, the instructions are incorrect and could use an update for the icon instructions. the method was changed recently for the icon to even work anymore which was discovered by myself spending some time testing a new method with @baa’s assistance, your welcome.

Pillow (The second step) is optional and not required for any themes to function besides cyberghosts. It mainly is only used for the optional fanart.

Not sure where you figured this out but there is a tutorial button next to where it says “how it works” if you looked at the top of the apps window that isn’t tab dependent. The video is optional and it is dated and could use an update.

Might I suggest reordering the tabs in the app so that they follow from left to right the order in which they will need to be used upon set up? A written How To would also go a long way.

Suggestion noted but thats up to the designer, personally I think its fine.

So, there’s a new (presumably easier & better) method, but it’s not in the instructions? And the instructions are incorrect? Do you see why this might be problematic for users?

Right, & for anyone who wants that theme, which many might since the ‘instructions’ say it is one of only two ways to get the Plex Icon on the app you’re hijacking, it’s out of order.

The icon method was changed as in the code that upload.s it to the aTV. The method to upload is almost exactly the same as before and was already updated but step 8 isn’t required if you are using that specific theme for PlexConnect after you upload the icon. If you are using an alternative theme besides ghosts or mine you will need to do step 8 and install the alternative theme. My apologies the instructions actually are indeed 100% correct to ensure everything is done properly no matter what theme is used to avoid confusion if using another alternative theme after the process. The icon upload is only used once typically unless a major iOS revision is pushed and as far as aTV2/3 the iOS has been finalized so unless a user is updating to a higher iOS from a lower revision they are not going to be uploading the icon over and over and should be a simple process even if distributing the icon to multiple clients at once. The icon upload process is pretty standard and cannot be changed due to iOS limitations, but if someone finds an easier method the app will be updated to reflect it but that more then likely won’t happen.

The plex icon is optional and has nothing to do with pillow whatsoever. You could simply use my theme without pillow and upload the icon but if you are using cyberghosts then yes you would need to install pillow since in bold on the theme tab it clearly states that pillow is required for his and his theme alone to work. Nothing is “out of order” as you keep trying to say. Everything is clearly outlined if you follow the tutorial and bolded notes within the tabs of the app.
