I have finally managed to get OpenPlex installed on my El Caoitan Mac, it seems to be running (green light and log says itäs running ok) but I can’t log on from ATV 3. First of all, the icon is still Trailers, secondly ot says “Trailers not avialable, pls try later”, or something like that in my own language…
settings.cfg have changed BACK to the original icon path, have changed it and saved it several timws, but once I start OpenPlex it changes back.
I can’t get OpenPlex to generate the SSL cert files either, have tried with manually generated (as per PlexConnect instructions) but that doesn’t work.
When running PlexConnect instead everything is fine, as before.
unless you backup your Settings.cfg in the advanced tab and turn on the Settings.cfg loader in the extras tab it will always default back to whatever hijack you have chosen. OpenPlex should generate cert files perfectly fine when installed properly. You may need to rerun the installer while SIP is disabled look at the first post in the OP topic for instructions. If that does not work you may have installed a beta over a stable or vice versa and broke your OS X install. Read the OpenPlex FAQ also in the first post. The icon is set to change imovie by default for iOS 8. You must read the instructions or convert them to your language. What language do you speak maybe someone could assist you further with these issues?
Have rerun installer w.r.t SIP, didn’t help. Installed OpenPlex before upgrading to el Capitan, never got it to work. Then installed latest ver. of OpenPlex after el Capitan upgrade, also had previous PlexConnect installed. Is this mess causing the problems?
aTV is running on 7.2.
Is there anyway to “unbroke” the OS X install?
It might possible to implement the code you showed @ wahlmanj3@ec47292 in the PlexConnect Wesberver.py and Settings.py?
Do you have written (detailed) instructions of how to install and use OpenPlex?
I found the YouTube video messy and hard to follow, windows and cursor being moved around all over the place, text being scrolled up and down so it’s impossible to read.
Im not sure how to fix the install if it is corrupt. I personally find it easier and quicker just to reinstall OS X.

Thats implemented into all themes when uploading the icon. The instructions I have are here, not sure how up to date they are:
You could try to download the latest 10.11.x installer and it may fix the errors you are facing. Im just not sure what you may have broken. Just after you are done installing/updating OS X rerun the OpenPlex-installer.app to ensure everything is up to date.
Have tried installing OpenPlex on a FRESH OS X install on another Mac. Installation behaves very odd and then stops. I mean stops, DEAD.
During the installation the status message/window flashes on/off, if I open a other app on that spaceon the screen, the install app stops - according to Activity Control.
After cloning and receiving 100% of the objects it stops doing anything - 0% CPU usage, nothing on the screen, install icon is there in the bottom of the screen, seemingly idle.
PlexConnect and Plexconnect_BACKUP with content has been created in the Applications folder, but no trace of OpenPlex.app.
Install team viewer and send me a private message when you are online next. Im not sure what is going on with it, I installed on a fresh OS X install and it worked perfect. What version of OS X did you install on the other mac?
Edit - Just uploaded a new installer. Grab it and try it:
I put the 2nd Mac install on hold for a while (all it says i’ts running but it’s not. Now focusing on the MAC where I have Re-installed ElCapitan and now are trying to install OpenPlex.
Wonder above all wonders, OpenPlex installed! BUT it says my local ip is 10.211.55.2, It is NOT, it is 192.168.1.78, and it says so in Settings.py since I set enable_plexgdm = False. God only knows where it got 10.11.55.2 from, it should originate somewhere in the US, not Sweden,
Hence my previously working PlexConnect no longer works…
Like so many before me I am getting very tired with this, and more inclined to abalone OpePlex altogether - the only thing I wanted was a stupid Plex Icon instead of Trailers or iMovie!!!
You don’t need OpenPlex to install the icon. Just using my theme or CyberGhosts (or any theme with the proper edits) would do the trick. If you have multiple network adapters (wifi/Ethernet) enabled it would confuse OpenPlex as well as a running a vm like parralels or virtual box. Settings.cfg will always change to Default when picking a new theme unless you backup it up and enable the Settings.cfg auto loader to load during theme installation. I can only make the app detect so many things, there is outside apps and other settings that the app obviously cannot detect. Im not sure of so many before getting tired with what you are facing as apple changed the way the icon could be uploaded not me:
Thks, will try tomorrow, getting a bit too early in the morning here. Just so I got it:
I make the changes my files in PlexConnect folder, run PlexConnect, do the fancy juggling with atv and router, and that should fix it? I have a working plexConnect now, all I desire is the infamous icon…

I just downloaded that new installer, but it gave me one from February. That just connects to github and then does nothing about downloading anything. It just sits there. Am I missing something?
Honestly I’m not sure why it would be grabbing an old installer. If you go to the first post in the OpenPlex topic and click download does it say it’s from February? The latest installer should say detecting OS X version and then start installing. If it’s not saying that or not working post a log from the console.app if disabling SIP doesn’t do the trick. I ran the latest 10.11.2 developer beta and did not need to disable SIP. It’s weird that some users can install it now w/o disabling sip while others cannot. I haven’t tested the public beta yet while installing w SIP enabled.
