Been reading a bit with no conclusive direction.
Getting an iMac Pro for some editing needs. I will also be getting a thunderbolt 5-6 bay raid drive.
Question: I have a Qnap NAS i7 4gb 20tb that seems redundant with a serious Mac and DAS.
Currently I use the qnap for Plex, IP camera recording storage, private cloud storage, and media/file storage, time machine backups.
It seems like the NAS becomes redundant with an iMac Pro 10core 64gb on the network that could probably handle all the duties above and more.
Am I missing anything?
From what I see, I am only losing 1 feature…the NAS has 4 gigabit ports that can be bonded - allowing a bigger pipe when multiple people are getting served anything. Given I don’t share to so many folks, I can do away with this feature and feel ok.
Anyone care to comment?
Decluttering is a HUGE benefit. So there is that too.
Thanks in advance,
