Optical SPDIF passthrough on Android TV not working

@Joe4992
That’s a pity. Does anyone know if all Sony Bravia TVs are affected by this bug - i.e. no DD5.1 over SPDIF. Or is it just limited to 2015 models? E.g. If I upgrade to the 2017 models (A1, ZD9, XE94 etc.) would it be ok?
I really wish we had some sort of acknowledgement that it would ever be fixed…

Weird behaviour for me on latest Plex for Android TV beta: when the Shield is freshly booted I can DirectPlay movies with DD/DTS using Optical on the Shield (USB + Turtle Beach DAC). When I’m halfway through the movie and start rewinding at some point the Plex player crashes and I select restart. After that the movie starts playing and shows DirectPlay as info. However nothing happens (no video) and a few moments later I get the message that the PMS could not be contacted. When I stop playing that movie and go to material that don’t contain DD/DTS tracks, everything is fine again. When going back to DD/DTS material, nothing, same PMS error message. When I then disable passthrough the movie will play, however the audio will be transcoded. When in this state I will never get DD/DTS from the Shield, also not in apps such as SPMC. I have to restart the Shield to get passthrough working again…

HMMMMM? Is this a problem with the Shield or with Plex, can I gather logs for a DEV?

Network logging is in the Android TV app.
