Optimize transcoding stop after doing one file after updating to latest windows server live build

In my case the problem actually seems to have resolved. It seems like the trigger was a file that I accidentality had in two different folders of the same library and that matched one of my optimisation sets. It was really the same file, not two variants of the same media. Since I stumbled upon the file and removed one instance of it the transcode queue is working as expected again.

I waited for an update (3/11/25) to see if it would fix this problem before piling on.
I am having this same problem with my Plex Optimization transcode queue. I was having this problem before the update too.
Version 1.41.5.9522 on a Synology NAS.

UPDATE (03/11/2025)

New version 1.41.5.9522 is out!
The issue has not been fixed yet. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

im still waiting for this as well as avc encoding not working for optmized versions which has been broken for 4 months

still not working for me either was really hoping the last update would fix it but not even a word on it and still an issue (tested it on another Windows computer and the same issue (Running form a different computer\different media drive\ and different video’s and the same thing) *If I shut down the Plex server on the computer and then restart (just the Plex server not the computer) it will do one more video then hang again.

Same problem for me! Glad it’s at least a bug and not just me.

Same Problem, Can only Optimize one file in a list of many. Frustrating…

Same here, linux, 1 file then waiting. Noticed that if I removed one of my old optimized videos from the list it would do the next one. Restart server also does one. Will try Tdarr but I only really wanted this one tv show done…

P.s. to force the next show I click the pencil to edit then save, that seems to optimize the next one.

I got to correct myself. It is still broken for me, too, although sometimes it does work. Seems to be really random when it does two files in a row and when it doesn’t. :person_shrugging:

Does anyone have the working 9057 installer for MacOS? I’d like to downgrade to get this feature back but can’t find it anywhere.

Maybe you can find it here:

Amazing, thanks! For anyone else on Apple Silicon, the downloader is labelled wrongly as ā€œx86_x64ā€, but the links within that page are the universal downloaders for both X86 and ARM

so is this ever going to be fixed or what, its been almost 2 months now and its still broken

No idea—I’m not sure if they even notice us.

I’m so glad someone else reported this! I thought I was crazy. The worst part is that this also breaks downloads as they won’t transcode if needed and then won’t download to the device.

I should add, I am on the latest Linux (Docker) build so this isn’t unique to Windows.

yeep same issue here, running latest version of plex on a windows 10 PC

Same problem here on raspberrypi arm64 on docker. Rolling back to 1.40.5 seems to fix it. But the new iOS app requires 1.41+ so back to getting stuck on this problem.

Anyone else know of a version where this works and where the new apps work? I would like to roll back since it looks like Plex isn’t fixing this at the moment.

UPDATE (04/10/2025)

New version 1.41.6.9685 is out!
The issue still has not been fixed yet. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

If you’re on an older version, stay on it and do not update.

If you are doing optimized versions you should double check the outputted files, the previous version of media server has completely broken optimized transcoding for me, both avc and hevc create files that only have audio, there is no video or subs.

ive given up of using plex for transcoding because they keep breaking it worse and worse and refuse to fix it, avc optimize transcoding has had this issue since nov or dec and its still broken so im now using handbrake
