Option in Quality settings to always transcode audio down to 2.0 stereo

As the title suggest it would be nice to have a setting that would give the option to downgrade all audio streams to 2.0 stereo and maybe 128kbps. I dont thin this would be a big strain on the server but it would reduce the bandwidth significantly if I am streaming something with a lossless track on my phone or other mobile device. It would also help in places like hotels where bandwidth is limited and could be the difference between needing to transcode the video or direct play it

You don’t mention which mobile platform?

I have the choice to set the default quality on iOS under User Profile / Settings / Remote Streaming. There are even separate settings for “remote streaming” and “limit cellular data”.

Also, tagging this “plex-media-player” means you’re talking about the computer-based player (which I don’t think is the case) and not a mobile app…

Sorry, I searched for mobile and couldnt find it. I didnt specify a mobile platform because I mean any platform that you use on the go. I know there are Quality settings but imagine you are in a hotel and the internet speed is 10Mbps. You want to watch a movie that is 12Mbps. 9Mbit for the video and a lossless audio track that is 3Mbit. Using the current quality settings we have to transcode the entire thing down to 1080p 8Mbps. So now your server in under pressure and the video quality suffers. If we had an option to just transcode the audio down to 2.0 128Kbps the video could direct play @ 9Mbps and transcode the audio down to stereo and we have enough bandwidth with our 10Mbps in the hotel.
