Option to disable Post-Play 2hr timer

Hi all,

Over the past few days i have been trying to disable the post play 2hr timer (if you watch 2 hours of video without touching anything then post play needs interaction to start the next item in the play list) after many hrs of googling and looking thru outdated posts i accepted defeat and there was no way to disable it.

so that brings be here, i would really like to see a simple check box or something added to disable this timer and let a playlist play the full list.

My reasoning for this is i would like to have video playing 24/7 on one of my tv’s, also while looking for a way to disable it i found a few other reasons people wanted it off such as it would be very useful for people with small children as they cant just let a playlist run all day.

i’m also not 100% sure this should be a feature request or a bug report as i thought a playlist would play every item in the list, i can understand the 2hr timer being very us-full for watching a series but not items you have pacifically put together in a list you want to watch, i was also told by @MovieFan.Plex that it should work that way after i created a thead asking for help with this.

Thanks

I agree, when I first got plex there was no timer , I noticed about a month ago to 2 months ago that the timer was now there, I love playing my movies and tv shows none stop I have many videos and would like to watch them as in the past none stop… So if you could add a adjustable timer with the option to have the timer turned off you would make a lot of people happy. As someone stated in a different post this isn’t Netflix . Please don’t make me look for a different software vender to fix my needs . I love Plex and don’t really want to find something else

This new 2 hour timer has essentially broke plex for my babysitters. Why can’t I just leave it playing continuously so my kid always has something to watch? Nothing worse than coming home and seeing the chromecast just idling because plex auto shut off 2 hours into an 8 hour play list and my baby sitter has no clue how to use a chromecast.

I guess in the mean time, does anybody know of any other solutions besides plex that permit 24/7 video streaming from a Lan server?

I also agree the 2 hour timer is a bad idea for playlist for children. I just want a playlist to play all night for my daughter.

Can’t you just add an override option to a playlist?

yep i agree for the same exact reasons as stated above.

What we really need is an option to just disable post play completely. Plex worked seamlessley for me before they introduced it, now it’s nothing but irritation.

I’ve yet to see a single benefit to it’s existance, but it has significantly degraded play queue functionality.

How is this ridiculous condition still in existence? … Build a playlist - play it? … can’t - 2hr Post Play stops it. Shuffle it? Nope - this stops it. You have to wonder how ignorant the decision maker is when something like this is rolled out without a simple ability to disable it. Pathetic does not begin to cover it. It isn’t even technological - it’s not force-feeding users your agenda or how you think they should do things . . .
