Yes! I am 100 percent backing this suggestion. In terms of User Experience i would love to see episodes added showing under one item with the number showing how many new episodes were added. If you add a series episode every week this makes a huge impact in terms of visibility.
It makes no sense to have all this episode spam in Recently Added TV. The Show has the episode list inside it, having all those individual episodes in Recently Added TV is just a huge waste of premium space. There is also no way to guarantee dates work out for the show to group properly so you can get mass episodes spam at any time.
It should just be the show with a number of unwatched episodes and if you need more info than that you click the show, which is a better way to view the episodes order anyway.
This way you get the overview of recently added like you want AND if another person doesn’t watch that show they aren’t getting their Recently added dominated by your daily show or now batch of episodes.
It just makes a lot more sense to do it like that or at the very least make it an option. I get some ppl want to click once less maybe and watch the episode, but it winds up being a big waste of space in practive.
2025 and still nothing has change. Why can a big company like plex can’t add that option??? The recently added show with multiple episodes looks like crap. I prefer Jellyfin because of that issue.
No you aren’t the only one.
I have a number of these series and it drives me to distraction - more so because the family give me earache about it as well. I’m not sure of the history of how the current handling came about but it doesn’t do it for me for all the reasons already given. The smallest TV with app only shows four entries horizontally. 99% of the time they show 4 single episodes of 6 daily/weekly shows and they are rarely the ones you want.
On that basis it’s not helpful.
Please give an option to display newly added episodes using a show link, that will take you to a show screen from which play next works and you can manually skim through seasons/episodes yourself if that’s your desire.
Thanks.
Has anyone figured this out? It’s been years for this to be solved and its such a common thing that happens. It completely messes up my “Recently Released Episodes”.
The user Saxon made it worked. This is how you do it.
Create a smart collection in your Tv show or series section. I set my LIMIT to 300 cause I have 200 shows, Ill never go more then 300. Make sure you select By Last episodes date added on top. I also named my collection Recently Added in Series. If you prefer, you can name it Recently Added in Shows.
Then, go to your tv show row, click collection on top (Pic 3) and you’ll see your square collection. Click on the 3 small dots bottom right and check mark all in Visible on.
Finally, go to your Librairie and you’ll see the name of your collection there under Shows, (Pic 4) mark this for recommended, home and friends. And uncheck your first Recently TV. Works like a charm.
