Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764
Player Version#: 4.30.2
Since the last update, when you click on ‘Recently Added TV’ the show name along with season and episode number have disappeared. All you see now is the episode name.
The content hub that shows up on the home page still display’s all the info, (show name, episode name, season number and episode number) but when you click on the link and go to the Recently Added TV page that shows you the last 50 things you added all you see is the episode title and nothing more.
Just me or is this a bug in the latest beta? Would love it to go back to how it was. It makes it much easier to see whats what.
Could you also provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing as well? Even with the local web client (4.30.2) on my system I’m seeing the complete details (show name, episode name, season/episode numbers):
Otto may be able to speak to this with more authority, but I’m pretty sure it’s displayed like this for quite a while, for shows added in bulk. The screenshot I shared above was from my DVR TV library, where items are added one at a time.
In my “normal” TV library, where I have ripped DVDs and then added the series in bulk, they show up similar to yours in the Recently Added TV section. Sometimes it groups the entire series, sometimes it shows that an entire season was added. It’s only when I add them piecemeal that the episodes show up individually, with details, in the recently added section.
I don’t often use the recently added section, but it’s behaved like this for some time as far as I know.
I’m not so sure; I see differing behavior based on how the show was added. If I add an entire season, it shows as such. If I add an entire series (all seasons/episodes at once) it shows differently. I think there’s just some grouping logic based on the timing of when things were added, to help sanitize the display. It’d be pretty horrendous to add 91 episodes of SOAP and have each one listed individually under Recently Added TV, in my opinion.
But, perhaps the logic has changed recently and I just didn’t notice it. I don’t collect much and very rarely use the recently added views, so it’s entirely possible.
The left poster shows as expected when you add several seasons of a show within a short time.
The next two posters I am unsure about. Please click on these posters.
Are you forwarded to an individual episode or to the top level of the show?
And if the latter, does this show have seasons disabled? (Edit the show to find out)
Those settings don’t affect the way things are displayed on the Recently Added TV page for me; they only affect what I see when I drill down to the library or show level (items in collections shown or not, seasons shown or hidden).
And it looks completely normal to me .
As what I see is similar to the OP, I’ll answer these questions as well. When I click on Soap from my example above, it takes me to its top level. I have seasons set to always be displayed, and so they are.
This is how it’s always displayed for me (for complete series, added all at once), as far as I can recall.
‘My Soap’ would Say ‘Soap - 4 Seasons’ - or however many there are and I am collapsing single season shows.
It’s the same local or hosted, ATM.
Chrome browser - if that matters.
I added 10 from season 2 of Dead to Me all at once and it says Dead to Me - 2 Seasons.
I also just changed Seasons to show like Phil has with no difference. Changed it back and still the same.
They were added back in December, after a server rebuild. And yes, as mentioned above, all episodes of the complete series were added at once. That’s my entire point actually; I believe they’re being displayed as they are because of the fact that everything was added at once, instead of a season here and there, or an episode here and there. I do have shows for which I don’t have the entire series, and they show the season number, when it was added all at once (see Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles above).
And I consider this normal, and expected.
But perhaps I’m conflating two things which I should not be: The addition of the shows to my library and the subsequent viewing. These were all added months ago; I’m not much of a collector. Maybe I’ll dance Soap just for fun to see if it displays differently.
[Edit]
After the Plex Dance for Soap, it does display differently:
If it’s changed in the last 100 years it would freak me out and it hasn’t.
That’s the way they show.
Even when I add one 10 minutes past the time when it can be grouped (DAM!) and it’s hanging out there all by itself it’s got info under it.
Well, shucks… how 'bout that…
You just needed a fresh bundle.
If @MessiahComp1ex Dances some shows - after making sure names and structures are pristine - as I’m sure Phil’s are - we’ll know more than we do now:
