There should be an option to instantly skip. The countdown is too slow. I find that having to wait for a countdown timer to play for 5 seconds before it “auto-skips” to be incredibly grating.
Please implement an option to disable the timer.
Isn’t that what the „Player Experience“ features are all about? Would you mind highlighting what is missing and in which apps?
It takes about 5 seconds before the skip occurs. My feature request is to customize how long it takes. For instance, I would like to customize the wait time to 0 seconds so I am not forced to watch 5 seconds of the commercial.

Are you referring to the padding, Plex keeps when generating the markers for commercials, intros, credits or some actual countdown?
No I am referring to the wait time before the skip happens. It takes about 6 seconds before the content is skipped. The skip buttons appears and slowly counts down before the content is skipped.
On what app are you seeing this?
You’re experiencing this with skipping all those types (intros, credits, ads)?
On tvOS (AppleTV) it takes 5 seconds to auto skip the intro. Be good if there was choice of the count down and 0 to skip. Feel the auto skip is incomplete without instant. Even Netflix uses 2/3 seconds. Binge watching gets annoying.
Yes, please add this option. Automatic skip of commercials should be immediate (like TiVo) or at least user selectable. Five second countdown is too long and I’m always searching for my remote to hit skip
I found a way to reduce the amount of time that the commercial is shown.

I tried this but it made no difference with a new recording. It still had that 5 second countdown. For instant skip I use PlexAutoSkip. Maybe one day Plex will add the option to skip instantly.
The skip intro functionality is by design not skipping the full intro, but since the analyzed data is present, please let me choose whether or not i want this ~3 second padding before the skip intro button is shown (when the intro is at the start of the media) and also whether I want to see the last ~3 seconds of an intro. I globally or library wide user defined variables for intro skipping would be best where 0 would mean you don’t see the intro.

I am in hindsight embarrassed that I claimed this without having my backing. I am positive I have read it somewhere that the last few seconds of the intro are shown for a better transition, however I have difficulties finding this source. I will redact my statement.
However, it is very consistently 3-4 seconds remaining of skipped intros. Which also makes me think that it is per design. If it is not, i am sorry. The issue would lie in improving / increasing the fuzzyness of the intro detection algorithm.

There is no padding before showing the button, but it does jump to a few seconds before the end marker as shown in our support article. That is an intentional design.
