Seems like the Music Video feature is really half baked.
(1) Plex doesn’t use the video’s embedded data. Since my file names are
ARTIST - YEAR - ALBUM - TRACKNUMBER - TRACKNAME
I can’t tell which video is which when looking at a grid view.
(2) When I hit shuffle, none on the videos ever up. It would be great if when Plex was shuffling your music, if it sees a video with the same file name, it plays that instead of the audio file.
I honestly don’t want to mess with NFO files or other busy work. iTunes can shuffle music videos so why can’t Plex?

You cannot mix music and videos together, so this won’t work. Plex clients use separate audio and video players so switching between the 2 is not an easy task.
Since the file names are in sync, the videos already show up attached to the music tracks. But that doesn’t address either issue.
I told Plex that I store my music videos in the same folder as my music audio. Therefore, the music video file metadata should be used if present (why wouldn’t you?)
iTunes has no difficulty shuffling music audio and music video together with this setup and this is a goal plex should strive for.
I’d very much like to see this too. If a video is available and tied to the same track then play the video. If not, a static image with the audio file instead…
