Option to show filename for items without tags?

Is this an option somewhere that I missed or does it not exist yet?’
I’d like to see filenames if there’s no tags on something.

I have a library of “unsorted” files that haven’t been tagged and would rather not see “various artists” on most of the songs, makes it hard to navigate.

If the files are unsorted and untagged, there is pretty much no choice than Various Artists.
Because every track in Plex has to be part of a release (album) and every release has to be made by an Album Artist.
The database doesn’t allow standalone tracks.

I understand that, but when using the web app for plex I can get it to show filenames, that doesn’t work elsewhere like plexamp or during playback.

Not sure what you mean by that.

Sorry, I think screenshots would help:

Here is what shows in the library view.

And here is what shows in “now playing”

The same thing shows on plexamp also.

Which metadata agent is selected for this library?

plex music

bump

is there any way to force plex to show this instead of VA for everything without a tag? i’m not going to dive into 50,000 loose unsorted files to fix these

There’s no such option.
You might want to consider an app like FileBot to get those assorted files organized / fix their naming, so Plex can make sense of it.

plex IS MAKING SENSE OF IT, its just not showing it, as the screenshots I posted above show. It has the filename without tag showing it just refuses to show it in the player view
