Sonarr helps with this and provides a nice UI for all shows. Although, it doesn’t help when using plex (especially with auto play) since, you won’t notice the skip in episodes, unless you check before you start watching.
I tried out Sonarr but doesn’t got it to work as expected (i.e. scraping german titles, looking up in indexers).
This is what i miss the most after moving from Kodi as my frontend to Plex. Feels awfully simple of a feature to not have found enough traction yet sadly.
A rather old request but still a feature I’d like to see.
i really like plex… but wow… this feature is still not added…
Emby has it for a long long time now…
come on, go add it!
Yes!
This way, Plex would show:
- how many episodes are missing or still expected for a show season
and - if an episode is missing between 2 episodes of the same season
I faced this issue many times jumping right into an episode before understanding that I was playing the wrong one for a minute or 2. Unfortunately enough time for the “Previously in…” to spoil me.
I’d also love this feature.
Its something that used to be a thing way back on the Classic Xbox XBMC and it was removed, I’ve been wanting such a feature ever since.
It was extremely handy to understand what was missing at the point of watching, or if specials are missing that I may want to find. I understand some external media organizers can do this, but its would be useful to have the option in Plex, as that is my entry point for my media and I use Plex as my organizer.
Thanks,
+1 for this feature !
coming from Jellyfin this feature or plugin is a must!
This is 1 of only 2 features that I still need Emby for. I would really like to see Plex add this.
Although this can be done outside of Plex with custom scripts, this really is an essential feature. Having a general toggle at a library level would be ideal, then an additional option at the series level to toggle for specials would be fantastic.
I’ve been using a PowerShell script to gather this information. It requires access to the TVDB API, but access to the API is going to require $12/year going forward.
@Rangulicon which script are you using?
@sasagr I’ve been using my forked version of this script.
My version changes the following
- Added Output to txt file into script
- Added instructions and explanations for various parts of the script
- Added the use of an encrypted credential for storing your Plex password
- Added dedicated parameters for $TheTVDBAuthentication
- Removed Perl Script
- Updated ReadMe
+1 for this feature.
I can’t believe that, none of a plex staff member cannot answer to this.
Even a “no, we wouldn’t do it” would be something…
+1, please do this feature. I would even become “plex pass” member for this feature! (i would pay for it)
Actually, requests are read and discussion happens internally from what I understood, we only hear from them if they need further clarification. So requests are neither confirmed, nor denied. More info: Please Read: Before submitting a feature Suggestion
Well, i can understand this, but this topic is then an exception, because it is opened for(7-8) YEAR now, and we do not have anything like this feature!
So at least an answer for a developer would be nice… (for this, and this kind of a long awaited stuffs)
A smart and useful idea. I hit the “Vote” button.
I’d be damn surprised if they add this 8 years later dawg LOL. They have the ability to, they already get metadata from TheTVDB
I just stumbled over this suggestion when following up on a duplicate thread.
While this doesn’t cover showing missing episodes/seasons inside Plex, you could use this 3rd party app to obtain information about missing content from media in your libraries.
