The feature to merge multiple files together as if they are a single movie has been a TERRIBLY BROKEN experience from day 1. EVERY TIME I add a sequel to a movie, I have to manually SPLIT the “combined” movie (EVEN THOUGH the files are named differently and in entirely different file folders and paths), manually “fix” the bad match (on BOTH FILES), and fix metadata, covers, etc.
The scenario (wanting to combine multiple files together) seems more likely to be the edge case, NOT THE NORM - ESPECIALLY WITH HOW OFTEN PLEX GUESSES THIS WRONG.
Example: I recently added “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” to my collection. Plex decided it was a good idea to combine this with the existing “Saw” movie (EVEN THOUGH THE FILES are named “Saw” and “Spiral” (COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORDS), f*cking up both movies.
Feature suggestion is: Give me an option to either:
A) (preferentially) TURN THIS BEHAVIOR OFF ENTIRELY, or
B) make the default behavior to NOT DO THIS and allow me to instead manually COMBINE files (for the rare edge case where the user WANTS them combined.)
This has been a broken experience and something I have to fight against WAY TOO OFTEN. Please give me an option to STOP THE INSANITY. PLEASE – IT IS LONG OVERDUE.
