Completely disable combining *anything*

I’ve found multiple threads suggesting this for about every variation under the sun, but how about just making an option (an option turned on by default, preferably) to just turn off combining versions?

Or at the very least, only combine items upon initial entry into Plex’s database? Has anyone ever posted here, “Gee Plex, I went to all of the trouble of keeping these separate, thanks for deleting all of my custom data for those other versions,” or “Instead of keeping my different versions separated with different posters and info, I really wish we could combine them so that every time I watch the movie I have to remember bitrates to tell them apart!”

This last library agent upgrade is the second time it’s happened to me and these involuntary combining of movies have been the only time I’ve ever been infuriated with Plex. At the very least, how about a prompt before it does it to give the user a choice instead of just blindly deleting other entries’ custom and (supposedly) locked info?

I have a lot of trouble with this. There is the ‘split apart’ feature. But I think off switches are important.

I’ve had problems where the series are still linked (changing one’s episode ordering from dvd to aired changes it on both).

As you pointed out, there’s already an existing feature suggestion covering what you’re describing. Please use existing suggestion threads to avoid duplicates which will distract/disperse votes and lower the overall attention for each individual suggestion.

I’ll therefore close this thread as a duplicate.
