I’m starting to collect some documentary movies. Would you add them to the same directory as other films and create a playlist based on movie type or would you create a new library for documentaries?
Personal choice, but it’s something I do… I prefer to keep them separate, easier to find when I fancy a documentary but not sure which. Just like my Fitness Library, Cartoons etc.

You might even have to create 2 libraries for documentaries: one for ‘movies’ and one for ‘series’.
And you can’t nest libraries can you?

You can, but it won’t help - Plex will have no idea they’re nested.
You can’t do **** with a nest in a TV Show Library - period.
I have a Documentaries movie library and a Documentaries TV Show Library.
If a Doc really belongs in a TV Show Series I put it there. If it’s a one off job that happens to be in some off the wall TV Series I go to TMDB and make a movie out of it (if I want to keep it). If I just want to watch it I stick it in an Other Videos Library - watch and delete.
After you add a few to TMDB you can do that quicker than you can futz with it in Plex doing something else. You also build your Gimp/Poster skills and become a Pro!
