Organizing Stand Up Specials

Had my stand-up specials organized as Comedians Name/Season 01/Episodes. This was a few years ago. I’ve been trying to add new stuff and this old format doesn’t recognize the newer stuff. The older stuff is fine. I assume it’s the agent used to collect metadata. So how do I do it now? Thanks in advance for any wisdom.

Stand-up specials generally go in a movies type library unless they are part of an actual TV show

Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks (2022) <–named like any other movie

If it’s something like the show “The Stand-ups” from Netflix it would in a TV library

That seems to work. But now I am having trouble with naming a few older specials, namely George Carlin. Do you know the website name/address that Plex uses for data so I can get the naming convention correct? Thanks again.

George Carlin TVDB

George Carlin TMDB

That one’s a little tricky. As you can see on the TVDB list a lot of those will show as a movie, but if you look inside the “George Carlin HBO Specials” a lot of those same titles appear as a TV series.

The good news is you can choose what kind of library you want them in. That part is more a matter of preference

If you name them as a movie, you can use either the TVDB or TMDB with just the title and date in parenthesis the way I have the Bill Burr special

If you want them as a TV show you’ll have to follow the exact naming under the TVDB with the s01e01 format

You will also have to check under the library advanced settings and change the “show order” to TVDB unless that’s the default for the whole library already

Thank you JaysPlex7. All good and up and running.
