My schedule has changed and I’ve discovered a problem. My wife tells me this has been going on for some time. When watching live OTA tv through PLEX on my Firestick 4k, PLEX switches to a spinning wheel when the show we are watching ends and the next show begins (as defined on the EPG).
Specifically, morning news. EPG says News at 5:30 and News at 6:00 are different shows. Around 6:03 it stops playing and just gives the spinning wheel. The only thing I’ve been able to do is to reboot the Firestick.
Not a big problem for morning news, but would really piss her off if she missed the beginning of the Blacklist.
Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions?
In case it’s relevant – PMS is on Ubuntu 21.04. NVIDIA. HW transcoding enabled. HDHR tuners. Everything is hardwired.
That was Saturday. Sunday and Monday, it happened again., 3 minutes after the news rotated to the next show cycle. Maybe my Firestick just hates morning news? Hopefully work will slow down in a week or two and I’ll have some time to fiddle with this more.
I have the same issue on 4k fire sticks. Show changes, and three minutes later it the app just freezes up and crashes. It appears it might be an issue with DVR or the recording files when the show switches and plex does not create a new temp file for the next show.
Every weekday, my Firestick locks up at 6:03 while watching the morning news. Today I remembered to experiment. Firestick, Android phone, and laptop running Firefox all watching the same show. Firestick and phone stop. Firestick needs reboot. Laptop continues to play with no apparent issues.
My wife tells me that when she’s watching a video on her Android phone in the mornings, it crashes at the same time that Plex crashes on the Firestick. The odd thing about this is she’s streaming a video directly from some website, not using Plex at all.
