Everytime i try to play a News video the app restarts. Any ideas?
Worse. 2 fire tv gen 1s. Every time I try to look at any news related content I just get the constant spinning circle then plex crashes after about a minute. It does this on both fire tvs.

Not sure what you mean. Ads play after a new video and only after some amount of time has passed. If you are watching really long news stories, then it’s possible you will see the add after each one, but it definitely should not be showing after every short video.

We’ve identified an issue with certain news clips and the Fire TV app. We’re working on a fix.

I thought I was crazy and my Pi-Hole [1] was blocking ‘News’ but that isn’t the case because when I use my Android phone (Nougat) with the latest Plex app on home Wi-Fi or service carrier data, the ‘News’ feature works – which rules out the Pi-Hole. If I play on the Amazon FireTV, it spins infinitely but never crashes. I’ve never had ‘News’ working since it was added on FireTV and I’ve tried multiple videos in a single session.
…I was curious about this feature but since my main media players throughout the house are a combination of 2xRasplex and 2xFireTV, this feature is useless to me as of right now.

Is there a fix for this yet? I noticed the feature has disappeared from my Fire TV App.

The fix for the issue we knew about was released in 6.5.3. There are additional fixes for other news issues in 6.6.0/6.6.1. Please wait for that to appear in the Amazon Appstore and let me know if that helps. If not, you may have some other issue we are not aware of.
I noticed the feature has disappeared from my Fire TV App.
What do you mean? Is News totally gone? It should still be there. If not, you may be logged in to the app as a managed user. They will not see News.
