New to OTA DVR recording. Tonight my wife sat down to watch the recorded national news and pointed out that the release date for the last episode recorded was yesterday’s date. She asked why Plex didn’t record tonight’s news? I took a look at the recorded local news and it also had yesterday’s release date.
I got on a computer and looked at the file dates for the two recording. Both were today (correct). I looked at plex logs and it looked like both news shows were recorded. So I told her to watch one and she reported it was tonights news. So the release date is wrong by a day.
Can someone explain where the release date comes from?
I did look at my agent setup. I unchecked “Local Media Assets (TV)”. I went back to the news episodes and did a “refresh metadata” and the corrected itself.

Seeing the same issue. I have deleted and recreated my DVR several times, with different zip codes, etc, and it always comes back to the same problem. Plex DVR appears to be recording and labeling based on the data in the EPG. EPG shows newscasts for 4/7/2022 today, even though it’s 4/8/2022, so my theory is that either the EPG data itself is wrong, or there is a flaw in how that data is processed as it’s pulled into Plex.
Just fired up another Plex server that I have and refreshed the guide data. Same problem on that server as well. Downgraded to 1.25.7.5604 and refreshed guide, same problem still exists.
Same deal here – on both Android and Windows clients. Upgraded to the very latest version of everything and dates are always day-before recording. C’mon Plex support, is there anyone there?
Plex server 1.25.9.5721 running on Ubuntu 21.10 x64. Same issue, although some shows are shifted two days.
Show 1: April 19’s episode is labeled April 17 in Plex (show broadcasts M-F, 17th is Sunday).
Show 2: April 19’s episode is labeled April 18 in Plex.
The timestamps of the raw files in the file system are correct, and the shows’ contents are correct for today’s broadcast.
Client is also irrelevant. We have looked in multiple Rokus and the Windows client, same issue.
As of right now, it appears that nothing is missing. This looks like a labeling issue in the Plex UI. If there is any information I can provide to help troubleshoot then please let me know.
I have had the same issue for the last 2 weeks or so. I was hoping it would work itself out, but it doesn’t seem to be. Affects all shows recorded on all channels that I’ve looked at.
I’m also having this issue. The guide is showing yesterday’s info at the current time rather than today’s content. The host machine has the correct date and time so I don’t understand where Plex is getting the date from. Hopefully Plex support will reply with more info.
Same issue but on top of that everytime I refresh the Metadata for the last NHL game I recorded it keeps reducing the date recorded. It started on 4/22 and everytime I refresh metadata it gets a day older. I stopped at 4/17.
I’m having same issues with the DVR Recordings showing in the META data as being a day before it was actually recorded. I’m finding though that if I do a REFRESH METADATA to the recorded show it corrects the date. I think this is some sort of META Data issue that is being captured at time of recordings that Plex needs to fix.
I’m running:
Synology DS 916+ using DNS ver 6.2.4-25556 Update 5
PMS ver 1.25.9.5721-6000
Silicon Dust HDHomeRun Prime tuner model# Model: HDHR3-CC on firmware ver 20220203
I know Plex isn’t focused on DVR’s these days, but I hope they look at and reply to this thread of their customers having this issue very soon.
