All my daily news program now got tagged with the wrong date in the recording label/name. For example, the recording title shows 4/11/22 when the program was recorded on 4/13. The actual file stored on the server does have the correct date stamp in its filename.
All our DVR recordings are off by a day (dated 1 day earlier). Started happening recently, but can’t be sure when exactly. Definitely before this latest version.
The issue seems to have disappeared for one day when the news programs on 4/14 recorded with the correct date title, but it came back again yesterday. Two things I noticed on that issue:
1). When it happens, it happens to all news programs from all channels.
2). When I click “refresh metadata”, the ones with the correct date title will become off by two days again (e.g. 4/15 program will then display 4/13). When I check the “originally available” date, it then shows 4/13 as well (was 4/15 before metadata refresh). If I then manually update the originally available date back to 2022-04-15 (or any other date), it will auto revert back to 1969-12-31 after I click save.
UPDATE: I found that this is a global issue to all recorded programs. If I click refresh metadata on any recorded shows, the Originally Available date will get pushed back a day or two. Since most other shows use episode number as title (unlike news program which is titled by the Originally Available date), the issue is not “visible” there.
I am having this exact issue with a TV Show library. If I add content to it, it will not show the correct date even though I have the date format set correctly - YYY-MM-DD - it will always show the “ originally available date” as one or two days off. I also cannot manually change the date, as it reverts to the 1969 or 1970 date as explained in previous posts. I hope this gets fixed because it’s really screwed up my library since that particular one is dependent on the dates being correct.
Hi, I am running version 1.26.1.5772 and still experiencing this issue. I upgraded from 1.26.1.5762 hoping it would fix it. See the photos attached of a live recording of the show “Today”.
Looks like they have fixed the issue of not being able to update the Originally Available date but the news programs recordings are still being tagged with the wrong date. Even when it initially shows the correct date, if I click on the Refresh Metadata, the wrong date will pop up.
Thanks for your reports of this date issue
I can only follow up if I have the following information:
DVR Setup Country and Post / Zip Code
Lineup name selected
Channel number and Channel name
and then TV Show / Series name
Dates and times of airings (and which timezone these are in)
and examples of airing dates / if “New” indicator was set and what the recording filenames ended up ad
and also give me future airings so i can schedule a recording for them and see what happens
DVR Setup Country and Post / Zip Code: Australia, 4034.
Lineup name selected: Not sure what this is.
Channel number and Channel name: 090 (9HBRANZ)
and then TV Show / Series name: “Today” (5:30 - 9:00AM on Nine Network (Australia)).
Timezone: AEST (UTC +10)
This is an example of a show which airs every weekday at 5 am. The guide identifies them as “New”.
I can see the originally available dates are correct - they are held in UTC and then Plex Media Server converts it to local time.

Could you get me zip of the Plex Media Server EPG database files - after an EPG refresh is done and completed - copy the 3 files out and zip the copy
On windows these would be in the local appdata path in this subfolder
“Plug-in Support\Databases”
and the 3 filenames have names beginning with tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud-
And please a screenshot again of an example of it being wrong - but I need to know what day the screenshot is for - eg in the earlier example you had it show a date of 4/27/22 but i could not tell what day that was for and what it should have been
Please see another example of “Today Extra” airing live with the wrong data “5/3/22”. This is another example of a show with a new airing each day. The current date is 5/5/22. It seems that the date is out by 2 days.
I notice that sometimes the date was correct initially but then as another episode is recorded, it will then update the one that was correct before. I also notice that if I click on the correct one and select “Refresh Metadata”, it will immediately update the “Originally Available” date to an incorrect date. Could it be that these episodes had the correct dates to begin with but then a refresh metadata was triggered internally by the app some time after which updated the originally available date to an incorrect date?
Thank you - the EPG database has confirmed that the time is being localized incorrectly and going backwards - I am referring this to the development team. The date for the episode was 4th May 2022 UTC and PMS should have added 10 hours for this for AEST timezone -
We do not metadata refresh DVR recordings
If you do post processing of the .ts recording and produce a different file then that would lose the DVR recording indicator
Lets wait for the fix for the localization of the originally available at date which appears to be wrong - you can send me zip of your EPG database and example of airing where it would go wrong and also confirmation if you have a post processing script
I manually refreshed the EPG, and proceeded to record a news show today (12th of May 2022) however the “Title” and “Released” metadata are out by two days. The issue remains unresolved
There have been further adjustments to date handling since the updated beta
I will send you an alpha build of 1.26.2 which may have fixed the issue - but i would like to understand the problem better
With the new 1.26.1.5798 are the dates showing on the DVR EPG Guide now fixed or still out by 2 days as well
Could you shutdown Plex Media Server and then copy the database files out and zip and send to me by private message - this is for both - the main database and the EPG database - the filenames in the local app data “Plug-in Support\Databases” folder would be
Please copy all of these files out (potentially 6 files - could be less if database closed down tidily) and zip the copy and send to me by PM
Also with regards to the recording files - could you get me a directory listing of all the recordings for this show to see how the recent date handling changes affected the filenames - Do you know what the filename for the 18th May 2022 recording would have been before the changes that came in 1.26.0 ?
Having secured all that info and files for me - then please update to the 1.26.2. alpha that i will send you and refresh the guide - there may be delay on first launch as database updates are made - and let me know the results - if issues persist - please get me the databases and details again
