Packet loss when opening PLEX server Version 1.40.4.8679

I have been experiencing this problem for the past 2 days and I can’t find a solution. When the Plex server app for Windows starts, I begin to have packet loss in my internet connection in the same server.

Here’s what I did: I updated to the latest version and then performed a database optimization from the Plex interface. I don’t know if it was a coincidence or not, but I started noticing this issue afterward. I experience packet loss if the server is open, but if I close it, everything works perfectly. I tried looking at the logs, but I don’t understand where to look for the error that might be causing this. I have been a Plex server user for 10 years and I’ve never had this happen before.

Where can I start to troubleshoot this error? Thanks in advance!

Any ideas? I do not know where to start

There were some reports a few years ago, which contained similar symptoms.
It could be traced back to particularly poorly coded router firmware.

As mitigation, try

  1. disabling DLNA in Plex
  2. if you use the remote access, switch to using a manually created port forwarding, instead of relying on Plex to automatically create one by UPnP.

It is possible that you may have to replace your router by a different brand/model if the above doesn’t have any effect. (or “cascade” another router behind the ISP-provided one)

SOLVED!!!

The problem came from my ISP, which for some reason was limiting my use of Plex. I still don’t know how I did it, but when I opened the server app it started losing packets automatically.

I changed my internet provider and everything works perfectly

THANKS!

What ISP was this? I’d like to know so I specifically don’t become a customer in the future.

It is an ISP from Argentina, it is called Nubenet
