Plex is not connecting

Hi Everyone,

Since this morning I have a problem to my Plex server, when I try to open Plex App to any device, it get stuck without appear anything on the screen, only the Plex sign. Then I went to Plex server to check any issue, but when I try to double click the icon on the Windows notification panel its opens the http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html but, after quick loading, it says unable to connect to Plex.

Another strange thing is when I try to go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop using home wifi, again unable to connect, but if I try to go using mobile line, 4G, the https://app.plex.tv/desktop works.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

Thanks,
Maurizio

Yes I am also having problems today. I was updating my Christmas library ystrdy and like an idiot went ahead and installed the latest update ( Version 1.21.1.3830) and cant get anyting to work, PLEX on TV, PLEX on XBOX, not even PLEX on my laptops.
Not saying in a bragging way, just sharing my IT knowledge to eliminate basic questions. Im a Systems Engineer that owns an IT Managed Services company, so I have looked at all the basc, DNS, Firewall, AntiVirus, traffic logs, can PING and resolve with no issues. The PLEX Logs are not saying much.
With that said as much as I know about IT, I am not a guru at PLEX. Everything was working about a week ago when we watched Christmas Vacation. I really think the latest patch has screw me up. Maur, what ver you running?

Anyone have a link to older version?

I also was checking DNS, because apparently I cannot even connect to the website, indeed I’m writing you over my mobile connection, not wifi. I was running an old version of Plex, but I’ve just updated it to the last one available with the hope it was the problem, but nothing it does not work at all.

Maur, I just found an older version… Gonna try that… will let you know…

If you can share that version it gonna be fantastic

Sure let me get a Dropbox link setup… FWIW, it didnt help.

Ok I am posting this in hopes it helps you or others. It is an official PLEX file that has not been altered by me.

Hopefully this helps. Im wondering how to clear the complete cache of PLEX. When I reinstall, it automatically keeps the folders and setup from previous install…

After reinstalling with this version is now back to work?

Are you asking me if it worked for me? No it did not. Still struggling to see what the problem is. I have even gone as far as removing my AV just for testing purposes…

Ok well I am stepping away… kids arent watching A Christmas Story today… hopefully PLEX gets this figured out… The only common denominator here is my PLEX server. Not XBOX, Smart TV or Browser.

Exactly, the issue seems the plex server, hope plex will fix.

Ok, so I am up… My PLEX Server is a VM (Hyper-V).

Things that did not work:
I Flushed DNS
Checked all traffic logs
Uninstalled reinstalled the latest Ver
Uninstalled and reinstalled previous Ver
Confirmed no FIREWALL issues a 3rd or 4th time
Uninstalled AV off PLEX Server (VM)
Multiple Reboots

Now working:
Uninstalled AV of HOST (Symantec Endpoint Security Cloud Enterprise)
Rebooted HOST Server

Not sure which of these two helped. I am installing the AV again as we speak but family just came over so I will not be able to update this for awhile.

My HOST Server had not been rebooted in 119 days.

Will update again after AV install and reboot

I don’t have AV, and Windows firewall is off, but nothing, doesn’t work. Could be Plex or ISP, but logs don’t help that much to understand the root cause.

Ok Mauri, so it is in fact my AV on my host thats causing issues. All of my policies are still the same and nothing has changed so I am guessing something changed with an update from Symantec or something? Will do a wireshark later this weekend… good luck and Merry Christmas to ya.

Check this:

Host file seems not telling me a lot:

For example:

102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server

38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.

127.0.0.1 localhost

::1 localhost

nslookup command is giving me this:

Server: dns.google
Address: 8.8.8.8

Risposta da un server non autorevole:
Nome: plex.tv
Addresses: 108.128.10.254
99.81.164.127
99.81.153.144

it seems to be my ISP that is not going to plex.tv, if I try to trace the route I have the following result:

C:\Users\mauri>tracert plex.tv

Traccia instradamento verso plex.tv [99.81.153.144]

after the 3rd hop the request is expiring…
but if I do a mobile bridge with my mobile, I have a complete different result:

really don’t know how to fix.

In addition, if I try to go to: https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ using Mobile bridge, it goes to the page, but if I go on the same page with the landline, I cannot get the page.

@CostaHT
@ Sa2000

Confirmed, the problem for me was my ISP, they were under maintenance of their DNS, also playstation network was unreachable, everything is fixed now.
