I often sync music to my iOS plex browser. When syncing the files are encoded in series. With 24 cores in my machine, it’s painful to see 23 idle cores while I’m waiting for 100 tracks to sync.
It would be great to see a drop down setting to dictate how many audio files encode in parallel.
The feature doesn’t matter as much for video encoding since it’s already multi-threaded.
All of my media is FLAC, so I re-encode the files to save space on my phone in Plexamp. When adding media to my phone it takes FOREVER because the re-encoding software used by plex server is not multithreaded, and the server only re-encodes one file at a time!!
I’m currently trying to load 10x albums onto my phone and my 24x core Xeon server is idling along at less than 5% CPU load!
PLEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE add a feature that allows multiple music files to be encoded in paralle, I’d love to have 20x files all encoding at one time.
