Password reset due to security breach: my LAN Plex Server keeps telling me to install Plex Server

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151-914ddd2b3
Player Version#: ??

I have a Plex server running in a CentOS VM on my LAN. All was working well, until I reset my password due to the security breach.

At this point, when I access my LAN Plex, all my local movies and content disappeared.

If I click ‘My Media’, it tells me to install Plex Server, even though I am already running Plex Server (and accessing the LAN version).

I have been through the knowledge base articles (including stopping Plex, removing certain keys from Preferences.xml, and restarting it), I even tried deleting Preferences.xml completely, but to no avail

My LAN server is not appearing as unclaimed in Plex, it’s simply not being detected at all.
Even so, I have tried to force the ‘claim’ server feature using ../myplex/claim, but I get an HTTP Not Authorised error.

I’ve restarted Plex service, updated to latest CentOS repo version, rebooted. None of this works, and so now my LAN Plex is identical to what I’d see if I access plex.tv

After nearly a week, I’m all out ideas on how to fix this, but it’s clear something has gone very wrong here. I’m a lifetime Plex pass, please can I get some support?

Are you experiencing this behavior while accessing your server locally (using the machine’s local IP address from within the same subnet)?

Alternatively you could try this script…

Thankyou @tom80H

I didn’t think to try accessing it via a raw IP. I run my own LAN DNS server, so was just accessing it via its FQDN

As soon as I accessed it via IP, Plex asked me what media I want to list, and then gave me an option to (re)claim my server. All working again now
