While watching Live TV if I pause for too long the screen will shut off. When this happens plex stops the channel and the adhoc record is lost 
I know I could increase the timeout on the device so the screen doesn’t shut off, but for battery operated devices this is not viable solution.
This happens on all 3 devices that I have; Fire TV, Fire HD Tablet, Nexus 6. For the Fire TV i set it to never sleep, but I still find that paused Live TV is still lost after a while.
Is there anyway to have Plex keep the screen on for longer while paused (or keep the recording going so it can be rejoined) ?
Side note: Nexus 6 is picking up audio from Live TV that causes google assistant to start and that also shuts down Live TV
I discovered this same thing tonight on my nVidia Shield TV. I was watching the football game, hit pause and walked the dog. When I came back the Shield was sleeping. I woke or up only to discover that the live stream was no longer paused. I lost about 15 minutes of the game.
This does not happen on my PC when using the web client. So disappointed.
If anyone knows a way to keep a paused live TV stream from dying please let me know.
Same issue for me. Paused the football game to talk to the wife about decorating. Turned back to the game and it’s gone to the Fire TV screen saver. When I wake it up, I have to restart watching and it’s back to live tv. Can’t wait for time shifting to be officially supported.
that is the worst, losing a partial football broadcast. I’ve switched over to the HD Homerun app (i paid the $35 for this year) just so I wouldn’t have this problem during games. BONUS: allows you start watching a broadcast that is currently being recorded from the beginning.
Yeah, I’ve thought about picking up a year of the HDHomerun DVR just for this situation. I use the free version of the app for live tv sometimes. You cannot access it remotely though. I wish Plex would tell us how close they are to supporting time shifting. They told me on another thread that they are working on it.
I adjusted the sleep and settings on my nVidia Shield box but that didn’t seem to make any difference…
I started the Thursday night game on plex live tonight. I hit pause and went to walk the dog again figuring that it would still be on the app and paused.
When I came back, the screen saver was on. I hit the play button only to find the paused football game was no longer paused. To make matters even worse, when I picked the watch option, it timed out and told me to try again later.
I know that I don’t have this problem when using the web based plex app on my PC. I wish this would get fixed on the shield plex app.
