So I am watching Live TV (Shield, DirectPlay) and I pause to go eat dinner. I come back 30-45 minutes later. I see there is a lot of the show recorded so i watch until there is a commercial break and then I hit the ‘>>’ 5-6 times to get to the end of the break. 100% of the time when I do that, Plex kicks me out to the Guide (where I was right before I clicked to watch LiveTV) and I lose the buffer. Does this work for anybody??
I do that most days, although I tend to only pause for 10 or 20 minutes, and I haven’t had any issues. Have you got any logs from the client or server for this?

thanks for chiming in. Logs attached (I would say it happened today around 6:30pm pacific). I want to be clear. If I am really careful and click on >>, then wait for the stream to resume playing, then hit >> again (repeat until comm break over) then it seems to work. Also mashing the >> on a prerecorded show (done recording etc) works.
@DaveBinM, looking at my logs, this might be the error:
May 30, 2018 18:28:50.951 [1520] ERROR - Caught exception trying to stream file: C:\Users\pvruser\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sessions\plex-transcode-96e961da-b221-4028-993c-df76989ac70a\media-00023.ts: write: A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket had already been shut down in that direction with a previous shutdown call
I don’t know what this means but there you go. Also there is something around that time about starting to record Transformers, that movie recorded successfully FYI (that’s now what I was watching live when the issue i am describing happened)

@DaveBinM, this seemed to have been fixed for the last 3 months or so, then about 2 weeks ago, same issue. Drive my wife nuts! (and me…) 
I too, seem to be having the same issue. Live TV fine, but recording anything yields a <60 sec video with “Failed Recording” badge and “Media Grab Error There was a transcoder error” while the logs show the same A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket had already been shut down in that direction with a previous shutdown call…
