Paying more, getting a lot less for it

I use Plex only for Plexamp. Not any movie or TV stuff.

Now I’m being asked to pay a higher monthly fee, even though Plex no longer includes any backend cloud streamer integration (nor Sonic Sage, which relies on that). So while I have many tens of thousands of songs in my personal library, it’s impossible to have everything, especially music I haven’t discovered yet. I can no longer use Plexamp to discover new music, and I can no longer import playlists into it and have it “fill in the blanks” with streaming songs not found in my personal library (I spent many hours creating a python script to automate this, which is now worthless).

I know you guys are “hoping to find another streaming service” to partner with or whatever, but it has been almost a year since the termination of Tidal integration was announced and we still have nothing.

Yet I’m asked to pay more. Can’t you guys at least create a “Music only” tier or something for $5/mo? And let us know if getting another streaming service on board is actually likely to happen, or if it’s a pipe dream at this point? I love Plexamp and it’s clear that you all have put a lot of love into it, but for me personally it’s not nearly as fun and interesting like it was when it had a streaming service to fill the gaps in my library and stream new music and custom playlists.

If you’re using Plexamp exclusively, I’m not even sure you need a Plex Pass? I know you don’t need the Remote Streaming license for Plexamp.

I pay for the Plex Pass to get these features:

Gotcha - yeah, unfortunately they don’t have a license like you described (but they really should).

I agree, and we’d love to figure out a way to do this. Nothing to announce, but we’re very interested as this was one of the core philosophies and has been since the beginning.

In the meantime, finding Plex friends with large libraries to share with you can fill in some of that gap, as many of the recommendation features work with shared libraries as well.
