Is there a way to stream content with plex if my pc and tv are directly connected with an ethernet cable and no router between them
As for ethernet point-to-point connections… I don’t believe you’ll be able to get this to work.
You might want to consider connecting them with a HDMI cable and install Plex Media Player on the machine that hosts your server…
the thing is that my tv is not in the same room and the wi fi connection is not strong enough for 4k video
So why not putting both the server and the TV on a wired connection to your router? If you don’t have the cabling (or don’t want the cabling to go all over the room) you could consider a powerline adapter (LAN via your home’s power net).
Most TV’s wireless are better than their crappy 100MB ethernet controllers.
then i have no idea what is the problem because when i play movies at 4k with direct play my pc only has to do the audio transcoding wich is a pice of cake but the video still buffers and the internet is the only thing that may slow things down
If anything is being transcoded then it is not Direct Play ![]()
it says in the dashboard that only the audio is transcoding the video is direct play and it even thorttles the encoding
