People video pause when i download?

hi there is a bug in plex some friends of mine the video pause when i start downloading how do i fix that?

Plex uses your internet connection to deliver your friends their media.
You are using your internet connection to download.

If your download is using up all the bandwidth of your internet connection (or at least causes the ACK packets from your friend’s plex clients to arrive too late) then the media playback of your friends will suffer.

There is nothing you can do than throttle your download activity when your friends are streaming.
Some advanced routers can also employ Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms to prefer certain types of traffic over other types.
But this is advanced networking Know-How.

i have a verry quick internet but some people dont automate pause and some do?

i have 2 good routers atm i have hooked up the netgear nighthawk x4 7500

but i also have the asus router that was around 200 euro i gues i wil enable Qos?

Are you running your plex server on the same machine which does the downloading?
If so, then your activity could simply take away some processing power which the Plex transcoder might need.

Unless al your users ar epalying the same video, you cannot compare the experiences of them. Some video requires more power to transcode than others. Some videos require more bandwidth to stream.

Then there is also the influence of your user’s internet connections. If one of them has a clogged internet line him(her)self, there is nothing you can do about it.

Simply enabling QoS won’t get you anything.
You need to set it up correctly too. Unfortunately I cannot tell you how.

yes the same machine it only happens when i download alot wel i gues when they are watching i just turn the downloads off til no one is there what if i get a second pc for downloading wil they then stil have an issue with pause not evry one pause when i download just a few.

i gues i wil leave it then of.

That depends on whether it is the lack of bandwidth that causes the stuttering or indeed the lack of processing power for transcoding.
A separate PC would help in the second case only.

my main pc has a i7 4790k 16 gig ram gtx 1060 extreme edition 6gb i don’t have stuttering issue just that some people video goes on pause when i download. my internet is 202mb/51up

Even with this rig, you will run into processing power issues if your media are 4K HEVC files and someone is trying to play them remotely.

51mbps are quickly filled up if several people are streaming high-bitrate videos at the same time from you.

i mean 200down/51 up its because that i don’t have glasvezel here or els i would have 500/500

i dont run 4k movies or tv shows just 1080p/720 tv shows movies.

but i dont have issue with stuttering or something just that from a guy i know his tv show stops sometimes when i download that’s the only issue but it doesend happend with evryone that’s the weirdest thing.

Just a guess of mine: if you could “throttle” your downloads a bit, your friend may already see an improvement.

what do you mean by throttle my downloads?

Some ‘downloader software’ or ‘download managers’ have a feature where you can define an upper bandwidth limit for the downloads.

So you could limit your downloading to e.g. 30 mbps and retain enough bandwidth reserve on your internet connection for your Plex streaming.

i download with sabnzbd and i have it capped at 20mb

Could it be that your friends have these issues at the exact moment when sabnzbd is extracting and assembling the segments of a larger file?
If so, do your Plex media and the ‘Downloads’ folder live on the same mechanical hard drive?

he said not when extracting but when i download his video just goes sometimes on pause but the weird thing is it only happens with that one guy maybe he has issue ? no i have separated folders on sonarr and sabnzdb i have a folder Sonarr TV Shows for my tv shows And Radarr for movies folder most of the episode are like 2 gigs 3 gigs 3.5 gigs 1.5

At the end of your download, sabnzbd has to extract all those smaller segments it has downloaded separately and assemble them. It’s just how newsgroup binary downloads work. You may not even notice it when it does that.
