Per-Library setting of “Include this Library in automatic scans"

I have two music libraries, “Music” and “Music 1”. I’m no longer using Music (which has over 5,000 albums) yet it seems that this library is being scanned every time I go to my Plex web player. I often use Music 1 as I’m migrating some updated files to this as my primary music library. I do want Music 1 to be scanned automatically, preferably every time it sees a change.

It seems there’s no way to prevent Plex from scanning one library while continuing to scan the other library. This is causing issues were Plex is taking so much time scanning a library that’s no longer in use that new files (music and photos) are not being scanning in a timely manner.

I’ve posted this question here where it was suggested I open a new Feature Suggestion. As I’m typing, I’ve come across several similar posts. They seem to end with this unresolved post from September 2018 with only 5 votes. However, this post from May 2017 says it’s been implemented (?). This post from 2014 also seems to report the same issue pointing back to the 2018 post.

Please let me know if the ability to prevent scanning one library is possible.

The 2017 post (mine) implemented having custom settings per library for the agents when performing a scan, but whether or not to scan the library is not one of those settings. To my knowledge, what you’re asking for has not been implemented.

Rather than opening a new request, you’d be better off adding your vote to the 2018 request to avoid splitting votes over multiple threads.

As pointed out by beckfield – please comment/vote in the existing threads instead of creating a duplicate. This will only result in distraction/dispersion of votes.

I’ll therefore close this thread.
