Permissions issue during hardware transcoding

Server Version#:1.25.4.5468
Player Version#:1.40.0.2816-0bc435f8 but other players have this problem aswell.

Hi Plex!

LONG time user here. Lately, i’ve been having real problems. The story:

I’m an unraid user and have plex running in a docker container. When i’m trying to play a video through direct play, all is well. However, as soon as I start transcoding, the trouble starts. The logs show that i have a permissions issue. But the weird thing is, I don’t have that issue when i’m not using the GPU.

I’ve added two logs, one where I am using the GPU and one where i’m not using the GPU. I’ve verified that all files have the correct permissions set with some help of the boys over at linuxserver. So that can’t be the issue.

The thing that eludes me is that it’s happening specifically when i’m using the GPU. So I thought, maybe it’s a broken GPU (god forbid during this shortage)? But thankfully, that wasn’t the case. I spun up a jellyfin container and hardware transcoding is running just fine.

So I thought, maybe it’s a version issue? I rolled back (with an entirely new container) to version 1.23.xx but that container also gave me the issue. Writing this I know it might also make sense that it’s something to do with Unraid. But maybe somebody here has had the issue or knows how to solve it.

I also know it’s not player related because I have several types of players in the house and all are exhibiting the issue

I have also tried several containers, the official plexinc container and the binhex container all show the issue

I have made an excerpt of the log. It is verbose, I know, I should be lynched.
