So recently something changed on my server and i cant figure out why im having issues with HW transcoding. W/e I have HW Transcoding turned on I get this error on play: [Req#d08/Transcode] Denying access due to session lacking permission to transcode key /library/metadata/257443 (The number on the end chanages based on the media being played.)

Kinda stumped at this point

Server is being run in a docker on unraid.
If I disable software transcoding it works fine. also Transcode is happpening in RAM, but ive tried doing on disk and same results.

Tried running the db repair script, no change
Tried deleteing the codec folders, no change
Tried reset all permission to 777 to see if there was a mishap somewhere, no change
Swappd Graphics card to known good older card, no change. GPU is a Quadro P2000 on driver 555.58.02

This occurs when a client requests a playback decision from PMS, the result comes back as direct play (or cannot be played) and then the client tries to initiate a transcode. Unfortunately, since you had debug logging off at the start of this incident, it’s hard to figure out if that’s what’s really happening in your case.

Here is a fresh log where Debug was turned on from the start of the docker
-Enabled HW Transcoding
-Played file, payed fine with direct play
-Change setting to transcode let it run till the crash
-Pulled the logs

Looks like the client is misbehaving. I’ll file an issue internally.

For the benefit of the client developer, can you capture the logs in the client during this event?

-Cleared logs
-enabled debug on client
-enabled HW Transcode
-Played file with direct play
-Change setting to transcode
-Let file play till crash
-Pulled log

I’m getting a lot of this also. Did you figure this out?

It still happens randomly to me but not all the time since the last few player updates

Thanks. Yeah, I’m getting lots of lines of this. I’m too lazy to submit the logs, and I’m sure the devs have better things to do.

@gbooker02
Hi

This is still happening today on my system. Was this considered fully fixed?
If you would like some more logs from my end, please let me know.

@gbooker02 as Alien asked was this ever fixed? The issue seemed to go away, but now its back.

Hello, Same error here. Didn’t pulled the log but it is very similar to rex099 issue. It seems random, as sometime it will work first time or after a few trial, or not at all. Is there any progress on this?

Unraid 6.12.13 / Official Plex Docker / RTX3090 for transcode.
