PGS subs on LG Smart TV break the app

Great issue here with PGS subtitles.
When the stream start the subtitles does not appear and the app become unresponsive, I cannot pause, stop, try to change subtitles, I can only turn the TV off or go to another app.
The GUI overlay doesn’t appear, but if I switch app (say tv channel) and came back to the Plex app, the video keeps going, the subtitles keeps not showing, but the GUI overlay is frozen in time (time doesn’t go on, and neither does the progress bar) and doesn’t fade out.

OS: Ubuntu linux 20.04
WebOS: 06.10.30
Plex client: 5.59.3

Same video/audio with external SRT file goes flawless
