I’m having a weird issue with subtitles loading when I watch movies or TV shows using the Plex app on my LG TV.
Basically, when I search for subtitles for a specific movie or show, the app automatically finds the subtitle on OpenSubtitles, but when I select it, the app seems to be loading the subtitle for a while but then returns to the language selection screen. Normally, the movie I’m watching should start playing with the subtitles, but sometimes I have to repeat the subtitle search/loading process several times before giving up because it just won’t load for some reason. This doesn’t happen all the time, only randomly on certain movies or episodes (subitles for one episode works fine, loads it at once, and then the next episode i can’t load the subtitle) of a series.
For test, I tried loading the subtitle through the Plex web app on my computer and in that case, the subtitle loads and when I start watching on TV, the subtitles are loaded and displayed normally as if nothing happened, but I’d like to avoid that process if possible. That’s my current workaround.
I’m watching movies and TV shows from a friend’s Plex library.
I have an LG TV with WebOS 24 (23.20.39) and the Plex for LG app (Client version 5.90.1, Platform version 9.2.2)
Any ideas why this is happening and is there a solution?
