Phantom "Siri & Search" Feature in iOS App

Is Plex capable of searching the library using voice, such as Siri on iOS devices?

iOS 14.3 shows " Siri & Search " in the Plex App Settings, but Siri will NOT search my Library. It keeps trying to divert me to AppleTV+ or the App Store. All the settings under “Siri & Search” are turned on.

I have tried this with both the phone locked and unlocked; App closed and Open. And yes, my library is accessible on my iPhone.

I tried searching the internet for a solution, but there seems to be nothing if anything that discusses this phantom feature.

Does Plex have anything documented that offers their customers any insight to this “phantom feature”?

I noticed SIRI was not available for tagging this post; interesting…

I am looking for something official from Plex, not someone’s opinion.

Thank you,

Plex Server v4.47.3 on QNAP NAS
Plex iOS App v7.11

That doesn’t work but we are looking into it. Apple just put that setting on all apps.

Hi BigWheel,

Thank you for clarifying the “Siri & Search” being placed by Apple and not an advertised feature of the Plex App.

Apple is certainly a nuisance to say the least.

Am I understanding you correctly when you say that Plex “is looking into” that Plex is looking for a way for it to work with Siri?

Thanks,

However, is there a way i can use a voice feature to search my Plex library so I don’t have to type it in?

I buy movies all of the time, and I use Excel to track my purchases, formats and locations.

I’m looking for an easy way to check my library without having to fire up Excel to check if I have it, and if so, what format.

Thank you,

yes. I have no ETA however.

Not at the moment. That is what we are looking into.
