As my topic says, the new Android photos app does not seem to be able to play my phone camera videos. After clicking on one of these, I get a spinner… then a black screen… wait a while… then it plays a couple seconds… then the spinner is back… plays a few more seconds, etc… unusable.
The all-in-one Plex app played these without any problems so hoping there’s a fix for this that doesn’t involve me having move all my phone videos to another folder so they have to be played with Plex movie app. Any suggestions?

Wanted to see my photos and videos again so downloaded the photos app. Same issue as op. Photos load ok but videos buffer forever for a few seconds of play and then back to buffering.
My videos are mixed between GoPro, dji drone and osmo. This is also on my local network.
I have Video from Phone ( Android) Playing as intended on my Samsung A55 Version 2025.17.0 using the link to Plex Photos. My server is Mac Mini M4 Server. Version 1.41.8.9834.
Install the Photos app from within the Phone app, Go to All Libraries for access.
You need to add/ import your Photos / Videos to your PMS Photo Library. I use MacDroid to Transfer to my Mac Mini to a photos storage directory, with windows something like Phone link would work.
Landscape video is available, whilst playing a video tap screen to show menu. Bottom Left an ellipsis ⋮ Press and select Playback options, Lock Landscape.
Months later and still no fix for this issue. Phone videos are unwatchable in the new photos app. Again, these same videos play flawlessly on the Roku app and the Windows app… so pretty sure this is photos app specific problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to try? Is it that Plex doesn’t want folks to mix pictures and videos on the app?
