Photo thumbnail transcode background job

Hi,

I read several topics by now complaining about PMS transcoding pictures before sending them to the browser, which causes undesirable lag when navigating.

However, when the transcoded pictures exist, the performance is quite good - both when navigating timeline, library or just individual pictures.

A question: at least for the timeline and library views Plex knows the sizes of the thumbnails for Web and mobile devices (iPhone, Android, iPad, etc). Is it possible to force the generation of these thumbnails offline as a background job, at least for the sizes we know are “standard” requests from Plex, if not even the individual image?

I find that it would make a world of difference when users are navigating the photo library, but other than just me scrolling through 60k photos in the different thumbnail sizes, this is not easy to accomplish.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
