I have created a separate library with few photos only (about 20), I have chosen to Autotag just to see how is it working, but even after a day nothing happened to these photos, nothing is different comparing to my normal photo library of these photos. No Additional Icon showing any tags, simply just nothing happened.
Autotags are meant to be used to improve search and add context for related items in hubs so they aren’t really very apparent in the UI until you specifically use those operations.
One place these tags will show up is in the edit screen for the items (as long as you’re on PMS version >= 1.12.0). If you click the pencil icon on the item and then navigate to the “Tags” section you’ll see Autotags listed there like this:
Just to be on the right side I have downloaded a pretty good look Banana picture And I have added it to the folder where the autotag is watching. Nothing actually happened. The banana picture behaves on the same way as any other, and I don’t even have the Tags section if I try to edit the picture. Is there any global setting I missed maybe ?
Ah, wait I’m using Plex on Synology the ArmV7 version and actually it’s only on Version 1.11.3.4803 so definitely not above 1.12, but if I’m not above 1.12 why do I have the Autotagging option if I create a Photo library. Sounds like a contradiction, if the feature is working only above 1.12 then I shouldn’t even have this option.

It’s actually the included web client version that doesn’t support this on versions below 1.12.0. You should be able to see this option when using the hosted web app (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) and version 1.11.3 of the server.
I have tried on the browser based client, tried with the windows client and nowhere I can see the tag icon in the upper right corner, and neither when I edit the Banana picture there is anything about Tags there, it’s just like that as I have posted above the screenshot. How can I check if it has even sent the photo to the 3rd party tagging ?
(I have double checked the library setup and Auto tagging is enabled…)
Hmm, this is strange, while it’s not visible anywhere that my Bananas are tagged, if i’m trying to search to Banana then it gives me back the picture as result.
Sorry, the searching result was misleading since the name of the photo was bananas.jpg and that’s why it has found it, now I renamed it to something.jpg and it doesn’t find it anymore. It is simply not tagged.
Sorry for the delay I was pretty busy with other things.
Here is the log.zip
I have enabled the debug mode. The library where I have enabled the autotag function is called PhotoAuto. I was moving, renaming files there to create log entries the files are something.jpg, apple.jpg, orange.jpg all were the same banana picture actually.
I have checked the logs, and the only suspicious thing I can see is some warning on slow query after the files are renamed, copied…, not sure if this is related to this and I couldn’t find any entry in relation of tagging. Hope the file will tell you more info than for me.

Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the logs.
Do you perhaps have a reverse proxy in the mix here? Your server is having a hard time reaching any of the required online services.
No I don’t have anything in the way. And my connection is pretty fast 240Mbit download / 20Mbit upload cable internet with a public IP address. And in fact I don’t feel any slowness in other areas. Give me some ideas how could I test this more.

Could you PM me your database file? Settings → Server → Help → Download database.
I have just got a Server update to version 1.12.0.4829 and also a Windows Plex media player update, and it seems the Tagging started to work. While I still don’t have the small tag icon in the upper right corner of the picture if I’m editing the pictures then now I have the TAG option visible and I can see the Tags if I’m searching for the tags then it finds the related picture.
Also note that it may take a significant amount of time on your NAS to process larger amounts of photos as it is using a very weak processor for this kind of work.

Ok great that means it is working.
I’m still not sure which icon you’re looking for? The example you posted earlier is from the Android client are you viewing this on Android?
Ah, okay I do have it on the Android client. What misled me that in the support document around autotagging it is not mentioned that the attached picture is from the Android client I thought it’s common across the clients:

On the web client you can click the little “i” icon on the bottom player bar when you’re viewing the photo to bring up related items. This is similar to the “tag” icon on mobile and will bring up a list of other items in the library which are related either by date, tag or location.
