Photos Folder view

SOLVED…

Dear All,
I was checking my “server version”. Tried to press update and nothing happend on the server interface. Have tried before and just assumed it was OK.

I got the idea to doublecheck this on the PLEX homepage. My server version was 1.10.xx and on the homepage there were a 1.11.3. I could not get the server to update automatically from the interface, so I downloaded and installed the new version.

NOW IT ALL WORKS.

Why my server was not updating, I do not know. Think that you other guys might have the same issue.

drzoidberg33, thanks for looking into this.

It’s not entirely solved there is a bug that can cause this to happen but not all the time. It should be completely fixed in the next update.

Thanks for the great feedback.

Hi, yes, It still happens if you chose “sort by name” and “grid view”. It works if you do not chose “sort”

The fix is not out yet. It would be a release after 1.11.3.4803 - cannot say at this stage which version it will be

Plex Media Server beta release 1.12.0.4829 has just been released

It has the fix for the top level Grid / Folders view - a problem seen when sorting the Grid View on Plex for iOS

See Release Note

  • (Photos) The folder structure in the photos view could sometimes become flattened (#8206)

The beta release 1.12.0.4829 made no difference.

Some more investigation: Editing the folder shows a poster image that is un-selected - see above. Clicking & selecting the image, shows the folder thumbnail in the android app.

What was your issue to begin with?

The fix in 1.12.0 resolves an issue where the view would be flattened, meaning that some users would see every single file, folder and subfolder in the root view instead of only seeing the root folders and files.

Im happy to report that the beta version have solved the problem for me. Thanks for looking into this and taking the time to solve it.

Thanks for letting us know!

We’re constantly working on trying to improve the photos experience in Plex as I know this is an area we have some catching up to do. Please if you have issues or feature requests for photos don’t hesitate to shout out here on the forums (I try to take some time in the day to browse the forums to pick these things up).

It has not solved it for me unfortunately. I had a nested folder structure.

Year/
/Album 1
/Album 2

I’m on Version 1.4.2.3400

I simply see everything in one large list.

1.4.2 is a really old Plex Media Server release. Have you tried updating to the latest Public release?

I just realized that. The auto-updater is not detecting anything new. Manually updating now.

Perfect! That worked  :+1:

Hi all, it seems that it has been fixed when using iOS for browsing photos on the server but NOT when browsing locally synced photos on the iOS device: are somebody experiencing this ? (folders in grid view are not sorted in any way)
