Photos in Photo Library with dates before 1979 show as black squares

Player Version#:Web 4.8.4 on Safari and Chrome on OSX

If I change the “Captured Time” of a photo to 1930-01-01 (or any date previous to 1979) Then the photo will display in the timeline view as a black box and does nothing when I click on it - I cannot even edit the metadata much less display the photo.
Since this library consists of archived family photos dating from 1898 forward; it has made Plex useless
