PhotoTranscoder directory over 100GB in size

Hi

I have an issue on my Plex server where the PhotoTranscode directory is over 100GB in size, it kept filling my SSD within a few days of being deleted so it was moved to a 10TB drive and keeps rebuilding back to over 100GB within a few days.

The issue however is that when I check the contents, each image, fanart etc. has over 100 identical copies. I delete all the copies of a particular image and they are recreated within 2-3 days.

Why is Plex doing this and how can I fix it?

This is normal. Plex keeps all the metadata it retrieves from the internet. If you delete them, PMS will re-download this info the next time your library refreshes. There is also an option in your PMS settings, “Refresh metadata periodically” that will also refresh your metadata.
