I’m sure this has been asked a lot, but I am wondering what the best route to go is for PHT. Now I don’t have much knowledge on things like audio passthrough but that is what has lead me to look at going down the PHT route. To my understanding it is the only Plex solution that offers Dolby Atmos? Is sending bitstream audio a hardware or software thing?
I don’t really need lots of computing power, as any transcoding is done by the server of course, and I don’t plan on using this HTPC for anything other than media streaming. Would a raspberry pi with rasplex serve up Dolby Atmos? Would an Intel NUC do the job? Or should I go and custom build out a HTPC. I am looking for something that is reasonably priced.
It used to be all about video for me, but I am looking at getting a much better A/V receiver and want to have a solution for media streaming setup before I go that route.
