Picard genres/styles (perserving everything else)

Hi there,

Saw elan make a post about metadata organizing, and I figured I’d give it a crack.

When I try plex dancing(already have prefer personal metadata turned on), I still don’t get genres listed in Plex, even though they appear in the file details as shown(besides truncating to only one genre):

Even the 1 genre (classical) it doesn’t show in plex after plex-dancing and refreshing metadata until my face turns red

Anyone have any pointers? I tried doing a Fix Match a couple of times as well.

Genres might only show at the album and artist levels.

Edit Musik ?

Oof I’ll have to try genres - embedded tags setting when I get home. There is no hybrid option here? Just one or the other? I like what it’s done for my library so far but if I’m going to start doing a cleanup there’s going to be some that look good and some that don’t and it might be more present now

No, because the internet genres are very, very generic now.
I’d call them even “useless”. (They are so broad because the detail is in the “Styles”)
So there is really no big loss if you set Genres to “embedded”.
The good part is that the Styles will still get fetched. So you’ll get indeed a kind of “hybrid”.

Genres > "Embedded Tags" did it thank you!

Any tips for utilizing Last.fm tags in Plexamp?

Here I see Epic under comment:Songs-DB_Custom2_album, which could or could not match a track, but if I’m sifting through the data picard picks up as well as entertaining the use of plugins like lastfm-ng, it could augment the music library in a different way - right?

I know this could also be simply comment:Songs-DB_Custom2_album is not even up for discovery in the plex universe, but it would be nice eventually to have cleaner metadata to assist in things like “create an epic EDM playlist for my afternoon walk” or simply having apps that will map/sync certain metadata fields to plex fields eventually.

These tags appear to be a private thing of https://songs-db.com/
They are not canonized.
Chances that Plex will support them are rather low, IMHO.

For sure, just trying to plan so I don’t have to do this for another many years :>
