PIN number control depending on rating

Has this been suggested before…?

My PMS/PHT PC is connected to our family tv for all the family to use. The problem is that my young children are getting quite proficient at navigating the plex menus and selecting their own Disney movies etc.

It would be extremely handy (and even more reassuring) if any content other than “U” and “PG” rated movies and tv shows could be protected with a simple 4-digit pin before plex allowed that content to be viewed. I have nightmares that I’ll walk in on them watching the Exorcist or something!!

I think this would be a simple and effective parental control method, particularly for a commonly used plex account. It’s OK trying to establish parental controls per user, but if all the family uses one account that’s pretty pointless…

I floated a similar idea a couple of months ago in the "We want parental controls" thread, but the developers indicated they wanted the user-centered approach....

Cant it be possible to have both??

Surely there must be serval families who use one user account in a living room environment?? For them, user controls would be pretty useless surely??

Read the parental controls thread.  The topic and the different use cases have been covered extensively.
